______________

At present my business is solely over the internet, and by telephone and mail order. However, appointments can be made to examine and purchase specific items.

This website was first established in October, 2002, and has had well over 50,000 visitors since then, including over 40,000 to the homepage and thousands more directly to other pages. At present the website averages between 30 and 50 visitors a day. On a typical day, about seventy percent of visitors are returning customers. The majority of the others find this online store through search engines, primarily Google.

This website can be found at both of the following URL addresses: http://www.finebindings.net and http://www.majure.net. - But regardless of which URL address you use, you will arrive at the same website with exactly the same listings, etc.

Since this is a one man operation and a retirement avocation, and due to my rather irregular hours, it is easiest to reach me by email. Telephone inquiries are also welcome. Here is my contact information:

  • Mailing Address:
    Bill R Majure
    2000 Olde Eastwood Village Blvd
    Unit C106
    Asheville, NC 28803
    USA
  • Telephone number: 828-296-7539
    Cell Phone Number: 828-279-7857

  • Email address: bmajure@majure.net.

I no longer list books for sale on the Advanced Book Exchange (abebooks.com). This website keeps me as busy as I want to be, and so I have dropped ABE as a sales venue - with its very high commissions & fees. I also have dropped Alibris.com (much earlier) for the same reason.

My specialties are:

  • Fine signed books published by the Limited Editions Club.
  • Easton Press and Franklin Library Leather Books.
  • Authentic original 19th century and 20th century art - including watercolors, engravings, aquatints, chromolithographs, serigraphs, and other items as available.
  • And occasionally, I will have other fine editions of all sorts including Livres d'Artiste, Artists' Books, etc - One past example being the remarkable leather Pennyroyal Press limited edition of Diary of a Young Girl: Het Achterhuis by Anne Frank, signed by Barry Moser (book designer) and Joseph Goldyne (artist/illustrator).

Please contact me at bmajure@majure.net if you have any questions or concerns.

Note: The business name that I chose, Montpelier Books & Art, is derived from the name of Marion Dupont Scott's famous thoroughbred horse farm in Virginia. I just liked the name, and also happened to have two copies of the beautifully boxed and leather-bound 500 copy limited edition book, Montpelier by Marion Dupont Scott & Gerald Strine, at the time that I chose the name. - Those two copies sold quickly to European collectors of "Sporting Books". And I hope to handle the book again in the future.
